Kinesio tape is a popularly used tool by many professional and non-professional athletes alike. However, you do not need to be an athlete to see the benefits of its use. Many of our patients get "taped" in the office for various issues such as joint and muscle inflammation, muscle tightness and spasm, as well as muscle activation patterning. Taping is such an easy and effective treatment to apply, that we teach workshops on its use and application in our office. This works well for individuals as well as "partner-taping." If you'd like to know more about taping or would like to learn how to do it, simply reach out to us for our next workshop.

Cupping

Cupping is one of the world's oldest healing modalities, ranging by some sources, to as far back as 1500 BCE. Often, areas of increased and persistent muscle tightness have decreased blood flow and "stasis". Cupping is a great tool to assist with inflammation, congestion of tissues and helping to establish increased blood flow. Many people recognize the characteristic "bruising circles" that cupping can leave. This does not always occur, nor does it usually hurt. This effect is the result of the release of blood that was pooled in congested tissue. The more the area is congested, the more likely there may be a temporary bruising appearance. Those that are more fair-skinned are more likely to show this effect than those of darker complexion. Cupping can be applied for swollen and tight muscles, joint movement issues, and more.
